Suspect in custody after police standoff outside Kansas City residence
Update: As of 9:20 a.m., police said the suspect exited the residence. She was taken into custody without incident. Police will continue to investigate the domestic assault.
Police have surrounded a home in Kansas City early Tuesday, where someone who allegedly cut a man may be inside.
Officers arrived 3:30 a.m. to a residence in the 6900 block of Chestnut Avenue, where they found a man who said a woman inside the home had cut him, according to Sgt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the Kansas City Police Department.
Emergency medical crews transported the man to a hospital with injuries that they believe are not life-threatening.
The woman refused to exit the residence and speak with officers, so police surrounded the home and called a standoff to stop her from escaping.
Negotiators are trying to talk with the woman to get her to leave the home, so the investigation can continue.
