Overland Park police find man, 18, sought in connection with homicide
Overland Park police said Saturday they have found an 18-year-old man sought in connection with a recent double homicide.
Marquise D. Stokes was found in Kansas City, according to Overland Park detectives who planned to interview him about the killings of two men on June 30 in the 7800 block of West 61st Terrace.
Police did not call Stokes a suspect and did not release any other details about the case.
Police made an arrest earlier this week as they investigated the double homicide, which occurred on the same Overland Park block where a woman was killed six days later.
Donnell Cortez Preston, 18, has been charged with murder in the incident that left both 18-year-old Velik L. Henderson of Overland Park and 19-year-old Trevon D. Anderson of Kansas City, Kan., dead on June 30.
Six days after that shooting, on the same block, 36-year-old Quaushey L. Harris and her 11-year-old daughter were shot by someone firing a semi-automatic rifle into their duplex. Harris died at a hospital. Her daughter’s injuries were not life-threatening.
