Police offer reward for information in string of cable cuts in Kansas City area

Police are offering up to a $12,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in a string of fiber-optic cable cuts in Kansas City and Raytown that have cut off communications services for customers and businesses.

For several months, people have cut fiber optic cables in the area in search of copper, police said.

More recent cable cuts in April occurred along the Interstate 435 corridor on Blue Ridge Cutoff in the late evening and early morning hours. Some cuts have occurred in the area of the Stadium Complex near East 55th Street and Blue Ridge Road and at 6701 Booth Ave.

Police ask anyone with information to call the anonymous TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477. Tips can also be submitted online at www.KCcrimestoppers.com or through the P3TIPS app.

A reward of $2,000 plus an additional $10,000 award is available for information leading to an arrest in these cases.
