Highway patrol finds man suspected of shooting and killing driver on highway near Oak Grove
Update: Authorities said Thursday they found suspect Charles J. Smith, 18, in Sweet Springs, Missouri and have taken him into custody.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is searching for a suspect who shot and killed a man Wednesday on Interstate 70 near the Oak Grove exit.
On Thursday, the highway patrol said it was still searching for 18-year-old Charles J. Smith of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was seen earlier this morning at a motel in Sweet Springs, Missouri, officials said.
At 5:37 p.m. Wednesday, the highway patrol tweeted that the suspect had fled the scene, driving off of I-70 and then leaving on foot.
Troopers secured a perimeter and were searching the area.
