Kansas City police investigate dead man with tattoo

Kansas City police said Wednesday night that they had identified a man found dead on July 3.

Homicide investigators had sought the public’s help in identifying the man, who was found about 6 a.m. near 80th and Campbell streets. The man had a tattoo reading “MLF.”

Police said later Wednesday night that investigators had identified the man, but did not release his name immediately. Police did not say how the man died.

Police described the man as black, between 25 and 35 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches and 170 pounds. He was wearing blue plaid shorts, denim Puma-brand tennis shoes, and a white T-shirt.

Police asked anyone with information to call the Kansas City Police homicide unit at 816-234-5043.
