Two people died after the motorcycle they were riding was struck by an SUV at an intersection in Independence late Wednesday, a police spokesman said.

The fatal crash occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Scott Avenue and Winner Road, said Officer Jeremie Stauch with the Independence Police Department’s traffic safety unit.

The motorcyclists were headed east on Winner when the driver of a Jeep Cherokee traveling south on Scott collided with them, Stauch said.
