Former Olathe teacher accused of sex with student posts bond

A former Olathe teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student has been released from custody after posting bond.

Jeana Marie Fleming, 32, is charged with having unlawful sexual relations with a 16-year-old boy in December.

She turned herself in on the charge Tuesday and posted a $10,000 bond Tuesday night.

Bond had initially been set at $100,000, but an attorney for Fleming asked for the lower bond, noting that she is seven months pregnant and is also the mother of a 4-year-old.

She is no longer a teacher and is not working around children, according to the motion filed by her attorney.

Fleming taught on the campus of Olathe Northwest High School.

She was charged under the Kansas law that makes it a crime for a teacher to have sex with a student at the same school even if the student is above the age of consent, which is 16 in Kansas.

Fleming is scheduled to make her first court appearance on the charge July 23.
