Former Olathe teacher is charged with unlawful sex with student

A former Olathe high school teacher has been charged in Johnson County with having unlawful sex with a student.

The 32-year-old teacher, who no longer works for the school district, was arrested and charged Tuesday with unlawful sex with a juvenile. Prosecutors said the improper sexual contact occurred in December or January.

In court Tuesday, the teacher sought a reduction in bail and was released on a $10,000 bond.

The teacher’s attorney told a judge that the teacher is seven months pregnant and has a 4-year-old child at home.

The teacher is due in court again July 23.
