Police arrested a driver Tuesday after his vehicle allegedly rammed a Shawnee police car and led officers on a chase into Blue Springs.

The incident started about 2:10 a.m. when a Shawnee police officer saw a white Ford Edge suspected of being used in several aggravated burglaries, according to police. The car also was associated with the criminal use of financial cards in Shawnee and other Johnson County cities.

The officer saw the car parked at a QuikTrip convenience store in the 20600 block of Shawnee Mission Parkway. While the officer was inside his patrol car, the driver of the Ford backed up and rammed the patrol car, according to police.

The driver then fled. Police pursued the car for aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer. The Ford driver headed south and then east on Interstate 435 into Missouri and then east on Interstate 70.

Police arrested the driver after stopping the car using a tire deflation device in Blue Springs.
