Suspect in custody after police standoff in southeast Kansas City

An armed suspect involved in a standoff with Kansas City police is now in custody, police chief Darryl Forte tweeted Sunday.

The suspect was barricaded in an apartment in the Ruskin area during the standoff.

The incident began shortly before 2:30 p.m. Sunday when officers were called to a domestic disturbance in the 8400 block of East 108th Street.

Tactical officers were called in to set up a perimeter around the location, and a negotiator attempted to talk to the man.

No injuries to the suspect or officers were reported.
