KCK police investigating death of Wyandotte County sheriff’s deputy on New Year’s Day
Kansas City, Kansas, police are investigating the death of a Wyandotte County sheriff’s deputy who died Sunday while he was off duty.
Sonny Johnson, 60, was discovered at home during a welfare check. KCK police said the initial investigation does not indicate foul play.
Johnson started at the sheriff’s department in 2008.
“At this time, we ask for our communities’ thoughts and prayers for our loss,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement.
