Southbound I-635 in Kansas City, Kansas, reopens after gunfire injures one person
Update: Southbound Interstate 635 reopened shortly after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to KC Scout. Further details have not been released by police.
Southbound Interstate 635 was closed Wednesday afternoon after a person was injured by gunfire on the Kansas City, Kansas, highway, a police spokeswoman said.
Police responded to the shooting shortly before 11:30 a.m. along southbound I-635 near Kansas Avenue, said Officer Marshee London, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
Initial information gathered by police indicated shots were fired and bullets struck the victim’s vehicle, London said. The victim was taken to a hospital. The extent of the injuries was not immediately available.
The victim’s vehicle crashed, but it was not immediately clear if the crash preceded the shooting or was the result of it, London said.
Detectives continued to investigate the shooting. No suspect information was available.
