Colorado man charged in fatal shooting at Blue Springs motel says he flipped out on dope
A 25-year-old Colorado man has been charged in the fatal shooting Saturday of a man at a Blue Springs motel, County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced on Sunday.
Police responded shortly after 7:30 a.m. when hotel management at the Days Inn, 451 N. W. Jefferson St. reported two shots fired and a guest’s report of “someone running with a gun.”
When they arrived, police found suspect Michael P. Page standing in front of the nearby Rancho Grande restaurant with a gun. According to court documents, a woman got out of a dark gray Chevrolet Sonic and ran up to an officer, telling him that the suspect had killed someone.
As officers began talking to the suspect and securing the area, the man put a gun to his head. While they got Page to surrender, other officers went to Room 210 where they found Shane Bossow lying face-up on the floor. He’d been shot at least twice in the chest and upper abdomen.
Police found bullet casings were found on the floor, used syringes on the bed and a bag of white crystal something on the floor near the bed.
Page later told police that he had been shooting methamphetamine and that he shot Bossow after probably “flipping out from the dope,” according to court documents.
He faces charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Prosecutors are seeking a $150,000 cash bond.
