A 26-year-old Kansas City woman was seriously injured over Labor Day weekend while tubing at the Lake of the Ozarks, officials reported.

At around 4:25 p.m. on Saturday, Ashton Penrod was on an inner tube, being pulled downstream by a 2003 Supra boat, near the 10.6 mile mark of the Grand Glaize Arm at the Lake of the Ozarks, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.

Penrod was thrown from the tube, the report said. She was flown to the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, with serious injuries.

A 33-year-old Gladstone man was driving the boat, according to the report.

Officials did not immediately return The Star’s request for an update on Penrod’s condition on Monday.
