Blue Valley Northwest goes into lockdown after car burglars reported at golf course

Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park went on lockdown Tuesday afternoon after car burglars were reported nearby.

Overland Park police said car prowlers were reported at St. Andrews golf course. There were not any confirmed break-ins and the school went on lockdown around 4:30 p.m. as a precautionary measure, the police department said.

The school is located at 13260 Switzer Road, about a mile and a half from the golf course.

By 5:08 p.m., the police department had told the school district they could release students.
