Puppy tossed from vehicle in Johnson County on Sunday found dead, police say

Police are asking for help after a puppy was seen thrown out of a vehicle in Johnson County.

At about 6:15 a.m. Sunday, officers with the Merriam Police Department responded to a call in the area of southbound Interstate 35 and Shawnee Mission Parkway.

More than one caller told police that a puppy with a bag over its head had been thrown from a vehicle in the area, the Merriam Police Department wrote on Twitter.

Officers soon found the puppy, which was dead, in the area. No additional information was immediately available.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on the incident to call Merriam police at 913-782-0720.
