Pedestrian hit by vehicle while crossing The Paseo is hospitalized with serious injuries

A pedestrian was seriously injured while crossing The Paseo Saturday afternoon, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

Officers were called at about 3 p.m. Saturday to a crash scene at the intersection of The Paseo and Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard.

The collision happened as the pedestrian was walking west to east across The Paseo outside of a crosswalk, police said.

At the same time, the driver of a silver vehicle headed eastbound ran through a red light before turning north on The Paseo, a witness told police.

The driver hit the pedestrian and continued heading north on The Paseo.

The pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries, police said.

No further information was immediately available on the victim or the suspect.
