Highway patrol chase involving 6 teenagers ends in crash in Kansas City, Kansas

A police chase involving a Jeep full of six Kansas City, Kansas, teens ended when the Jeep struck another vehicle, seriously injuring its driver.
On Saturday evening, Kansas Highway Patrol began chasing the driver of a Jeep who was headed north on South 7th Street, just north of Interstate 70. At 10:23 p.m., during the chase, the driver of the Jeep, a 17-year-old girl from KCK, rear-ended another vehicle headed north on 7th Street, according to a crash report from highway patrol.
The other driver, who was in a Dodge Avenger, lost control of the vehicle when she was hit, and ran off the road, colliding with a concrete wall near 212 South Tremont Street just off South 7th Street and North of Interstate 70, according to the report.
The car’s driver and lone occupant, a 53-year-old woman from KCK, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Jeep wasn’t injured. One of the five passengers, a 16-year-old boy, was hospitalized with minor injuries. The other four teens, all of whom were 16 and 17, were uninjured, according to highway patrol.
All those involved in the crash were wearing seat belts, according to the report.
Spokespeople the Kansas Highway Patrol did not immediately reply to a request from The Star seeking more information on the circumstances around the chase.
