Pedestrian struck by Ford Mustang while crossing Kansas City street Saturday has died

A pedestrian was killed Saturday night while crossing a street in Kansas City, police said.

The driver of a black Ford Mustang was headed west on East 87th Street when they struck a pedestrian crossing East 87th Street from north to south, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

First responders were called to the crash scene at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of East 87th Street and Newton Avenue.

The pedestrian, a male, was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead, police said. The victim’s name and age have not yet been released to the public.

The driver was not injured in the crash.

This is the 30th fatal crash this year in Kansas City, according to police data. Last year, 85 people were killed in traffic collisions.
