2-year-old boy found safe, suspect taken into custody after car theft prompts Amber Alert
Update: The 2-year-old boy was found safe and a suspect was taken into custody at about 10:30 a.m. Monday, police said.
Authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a white 2006 Dodge Caravan minivan stolen from Raytown with a 2-year-old boy still inside.
The vehicle has a Missouri license plate reading HU49L, according to the alert issued just before 10 a.m. Monday by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The car also has a star-shaped sticker on the left, driver’s side rear hatch door and a bumper sticker on the back, Raytown police said in an alert.
The van was stolen at about 9:30 a.m. Monday while it was left running outside the convenience store at 6024 Blue Ridge Boulevard, according to Raytown police.
A 2-year-old boy was in the van when it was taken. The boy has short hair and was wearing black clothes and red and black shoes, police said.
Highway patrol issued an Amber Alert shortly after the incident and investigation is underway.
Anyone who believes they have seen the vehicle or knows where it is asked to call 911.
