Feds accuse bus traveler in KC of carrying 8 pounds of heroin

A 26-year-old woman traveling across country by bus was arrested in Kansas City Monday after police allegedly found more than 8 pounds of heroin in her suitcase.

Rizzela Fierro-Canobbio was charged in U.S. District Court in Kansas City with possession of heroin with the intent to distribute.

According to court documents, she told police that she had picked up the suitcase in Phoenix from a man she knew as “Grande.” She was to be paid $5,000 to deliver it to someone in Chicago, according to the allegations.

Prosecutors have filed a motion to have her detained without bond while the case is pending.
