Law enforcement have arrested a person suspected of breaking into a string of teachers’ vehicles.

On Wednesday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol put a call out to teachers, asking anyone whose car was broken into, and who had their purse stolen in the past week, to call them.

They said in the announcement on Twitter that they have one suspect in custody whom they believe has been targeting teachers parked at school.

“It’s deplorable,” Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Lowe told KCTV5 on Wednesday. “Teachers have been through a tremendous amount the last two years, and of all people to be preying upon, it’s pretty despicable.”

Lowe told KCTV5 that some of the items found in the vehicle of the man taken into custody were tracked back to teachers whose cars were broken into in Savannah, Missouri, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and one in Minnesota.

Anyone whose recently had their vehicle broken into in a school parking lot is asked to contact Cpl. Beau Ryan at 816-401-7917.
