Two shootings overnight in Kansas City

Kansas City police were investigating Sunday two shootings overnight that left one person critically wounded.

Police said two people were shot, one critically, shortly before midnight on Prospect Avenue near Research Medical Center. The victims contacted an off-duty police officer who was providing security at the hospital, police said.

About three hours later, a man was shot in the shoulder outside a gas station on Main Street in midtown, police said. He was hospitalized with non-life threatening wounds, police said.
