Death of Kansas City infant ruled a homicide after autopsy, police say

The death of a 4-month-old baby in Kansas City is now being investigated by police as a homicide following recent findings made through an autopsy.

The child was first treated by emergency medical workers on the afternoon of Sept. 11. Authorities were initially sent to the 4200 block of North Locust Street after receiving a report of a baby not breathing.

Life-saving measures were performed on the child by emergency medical personnel. A pulse was restored at the scene but the child later died in an area hospital, said Capt. Leslie Foreman, a department spokeswoman.

Detectives received word from the medical examiner’s office Thursday that the death had been ruled a homicide. The cause of death and identity of the child were not immediately disclosed.
