Hit-and-run crash kills motorcyclist late Friday afternoon, Kansas City police say

One person was killed in a hit-and-run crash Friday afternoon in Kansas City’s Northland near the Ameristar Casino..

Police were called just before 5 p.m. to the scene of the accident at North Ameristar Drive and Birmingham Road, Officer Donna Drake, a police spokeswoman, said in a statement. Investigators determined that a white Ford pickup truck was traveling north on Ameristar when it turned left in front of the southbound motorcycle.

The motorcyclist struck the rear of the truck and flew off his vehicle. He was then run over by the truck, police said.

The truck then fled the scene and was last seen traveling east on U.S. 210 Highway, according to police. Police had no further information about the suspect vehicle to immediately share, Drake said.

The identity of the motorcycle driver was not immediately disclosed. The death marked the 74th traffic fatality in Kansas City so far this year, according to police.

The department is asking anyone with information about the crash to call the anonymous TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
