KC police investigate homicide after driver discovered with gunshot wound dies
A man treated at the scene of a car crash Friday night in Kansas City was later discovered to have been shot.
The man died at a hospital, the Kansas City Police Department said early Saturday.
Police were dispatched about 9:15 p.m. to Olive Street and East Meyer Boulevard on an injury crash.
Emergency crews found a vehicle that had crashed into a tree. The driver was unresponsive, Sgt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the police department said.
The man was transported to an area hospital with injuries that were life-threatening. As he was being treated, medical personnel discovered he had been shot.
Detectives were later notified that the man had died, Becchina said.
Investigators had processed the scene at the time of the call and continue to follow up on the homicide.
