No one was injured after an electric vehicle crashed into a building in Olathe Tuesday, officials said.

Capt. Mike Hall, a spokesman with the Olathe Fire Department, said no one was inside Aerial Infrastructure Services at 1150 West 151 Street when the Tesla drove through one of the building’s exterior walls and stopped inside an office space Tuesday afternoon.

Two females were in the car at the time of the crash, Hall said. Neither were injured.

“Despite obvious damage to the structure office space, the vehicle also broke an interior water line,” Hall told The Star in an email Wednesday. “The water line appeared to supply a bathroom. The broken water line deposited water within the space.”

A damage estimate is not yet available. In the meantime, the fire department stabilized the outer wall that took the brunt of the damage.

It is not known if the Tesla was on Autopilot at the time of the crash.

The driver was not cited in the incident, Sgt. Joel Yeldell, a spokesman for the Olathe Police Department, told The Star on Wednesday.

Yeldell said the owner of the vehicle will contact the manufacturer for further investigation. He did not provide additional information on the crash, pending the release of an incident report.

When reached for comment, a representative for Aerial Infrastructure Services said the company had nothing further to add.
