Charges filed in traffic deaths of Overland Park couple

A 21-year-old Emporia, Kan., man has been charged in the 2013 traffic deaths of an elderly couple in Overland Park.

Santos Zuniga Jr. was booked into the Johnson County Jail Tuesday on a warrant charging him with two counts of vehicular homicide in the deaths of 80-year-old Norma F. Russell and her 86-year-old husband, Norman J. Russell.

The Russells, of Overland Park, were killed on Sept. 26, 2013, in a two-vehicle collision at 79th and Mastin streets.

The charges against Zuniga allege that he was speeding and ran a stop sign before colliding with a car driven by Norman Russell.
