Kansas City sobriety checkpoint yields 15 DUI arrests

Fifteen people were arrested Friday night and Saturday morning on suspicion of drunk driving after being stopped at a sobriety checkpoint set up by the Kansas City Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Police reported that they stopped 1,072 vehicles between 11 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday. The checkpoint was set up north of downtown Kansas City across the Broadway Bridge at U.S. Route 169 and Harlem Road.

The 15 arrests accounted for less than 1.5 percent of the stops. Nine other people were arrested for other suspected violations.
