Independence restaurant employee shot

An Independence restaurant employee remained hospitalized Thursday after being shot during an apparent robbery attempt Wednesday night, police said.

A gunman entered the Olympic Grill at 9100 U.S. 40 about 8:45 p.m. and demanded money from the employee before shooting him with a handgun.

The shooter, described as a slender black male about 5 feet and 9 inches tall wearing a dark shirt and a dark bandana over his face, fled on foot without obtaining any money.

Police ask anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477 or the Independence Police Department at 816-325-7777.
