Kansas City man is found guilty of killing man he accused of affair with wife
A jury found a Kansas City man guilty Tuesday of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the fatal shooting of a man he accused of sleeping with his wife.
That means Christopher S. Deboe, 37, will get life in prison for killing Sherill Collins, 45, on Sept. 5, 2014, at a home in the 7400 block of East 118th Terrace in Kansas City.
According to court records, police responding to a shooting call encountered Deboe on the front porch. He told the officers the victim was inside. Officers found Collins on a couch, dead from several gunshot wounds. Deboe told officers that he had taken a gun away from Collins and shot him.
Deboe also said that when he got out of prison, he heard the victim was sleeping with his wife.
After the shooting, Deboe dialed 911 and reported, “Somebody just got shot,” according to court records.
After the call taker asked a follow-up question, Deboe said, “Yeah, this guy just came in whatever, he had a gun whatever, we started fighting.”
