Parkville mayor arrested on suspicion of DUI, Platte County Sheriff’s Office says
The mayor of Parkville was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to the Platte County Sheriff’s Office.
Parkville Mayor Nan Johnston, 60, was pulled over shortly after 1:15 a.m. Saturday while traveling south on Missouri 9 Highway near Eastside Drive, Maj. Erik Holland said Monday.
The deputy observed the vehicle she was driving weaving in the lane and crossing the center line.
Johnston was taken into custody and administered a breathalyzer test which read 0.098, Holland said. Missouri’s legal limit is 0.08.
She posted a $1,000 bond and was released from the jail at 3:30 a.m.
Reached by phone Monday, her attorney advised her not to comment, Johnston said.
According to the city of Parkville, Johnston has been mayor since 2014.
