Child abduction attempt in Gladstone
A seven-year-old girl told Gladstone police a man came out of the woods and grabbed her while she was walking to school Monday morning.
The girl said she was walking in the 5700 block of North Flora Avenue about 9 a.m. when she saw a man in the woods in Flora Park. She said the man came up from behind and grabbed her. The girl screamed and another child ran toward her, calling out to her. The man let the girl go and ran back into the woods. He was described as a tall man wearing a green shirt and black pants.
Police searched the area but were unable to locate the man. Police will increase patrols in neighborhoods and near schools and are encouraging children to walk to school in groups.
