A six-year-old boy remains in critical condition Thursday after being shot in Lawrence.

At about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Lawrence police responded to a report of a medical emergency at a residence in the 700 block of West 35th Street.

Officers found a child suffering from a gunshot wound and rendered aid, police spokesman Patrick Compton said.

The boy was transported to a hospital.

He was in critical but stable condition Thursday afternoon.

No foul play was suspected, but the incident remains under investigation, Compton said.
