Teen hospitalized after shots fired from passing vehicle in Kansas City, Kansas
A 16-year-old was shot Sunday in Kansas City, Kansas. He was taken to the hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, police said.
Members of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department were called just after 7:30 p.m. to the 1400 block of Kansas Avenue on a shooting, Nancy Chartrand, a police spokeswoman, said in a Sunday evening news release.
There they found the teen suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital. The passenger in the car, another minor, was not injured.
The 16-year-old was driving westbound on Kansas Avenue when someone in a vehicle traveling the opposite direction began shooting in the direction of the teen, police said.
The suspect vehicle fled.
