Man shoots woman, dies by suicide during disturbance at Longview Lake
A man shot a woman and then fatally shot himself during a domestic disturbance at Longview Lake, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded about 1 a.m. Monday to a disturbance at the lake in the southern part of the Kansas City area, Sheriff Darryl Forté said on Twitter.
As deputies approached a 39-year-old man, he shot himself, Forté said. The man died, the sheriff said.
Deputies discovered that the man had shot the woman before the deputies arrived, Forté said. She was injured but was expected to survive.
In his tweet, Forté included the National Domestic Violence Hotline number 1-800-799-7233.
