More remains found at Shoal Creek likely from same person located by 10-year-old: KCPD
Missouri Search and Rescue and Kansas City police located additional human remains Tuesday near Shoal Creek, following the initial discovery by a 10-year-old earlier this week.
The remains, Kansas City Police Department spokeswoman Officer Doaa El-Ashkar said, were found along the creek bank north of Pleasant Valley Road.
A 10-year-old boy found remains Sunday in the Northland near the Shoal Creek Patrol Division’s area.
Kansas City police and Missouri Search and Rescue, along with cadaver dogs, searched in the same area for about eight hours on Tuesday where they found the additional remains.
The remains have not been identified. Investigators believe the additional remains are from the same person, Al-Ashkar said, due to the “proximity and makeup of the remains.”
The remains are “degraded beyond the ability to test for DNA,” Al-Ashkar said, but advanced DNA testing will be used to identify them. That could take three to six months.
