Kansas City woman in stable condition after being struck by gunfire while driving

A 28-year-old woman remained in stable condition Monday after being hit by gunfire about 3 a.m. Sunday while driving near 99th Street and White Avenue in south Kansas City.

The woman told police she was in her vehicle when someone in a home’s driveway in the 6000 block of East 99th Street opened fire. Several bullets struck the woman and her vehicle. She drove herself to a hospital for treatment.

Gunfire also hit two houses in the area. The homes did not appear to be the target, according initial police reports.
