One killed, four injured in crash after pursuit of vehicle stolen from Overland Park
A person suspected of driving a SUV stolen from Overland Park died in a crash following a pursuit Tuesday afternoon in Cass County, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies tried to stop the vehicle near East 287th Street and South Buford Road, south of Harrisonville, about 12:15 p.m.
Nearly 20 miles north by the intersection of J Highway and East 203rd Street in Raymore, the driver was ejected after the SUV struck another vehicle on J Highway and rolled over.
Deputies gave the driver CPR until medical personnel arrived. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The four people in the other vehicle have minor injuries and were taken to a hospital as a precaution.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating.
Capt. Tom Fredrickson of the Overland Park Police Department said a Chrysler Aspen was reported stolen July 3 from the 10000 block of West 136th Street but the pursuit occurred in Cass County and Overland Park police were not involved.
J Highway was closed at 203rd Street.
