A death investigation was underway Sunday after a body was found inside an apartment in Kansas City, police said.

Officers responded just after 4 p.m. to the Knollwood Apartments in the 1500 block of Northeast Vivion Road, where they found a dead person inside an apartment, according to the Kansas City Police Department.

Detectives and crime scene technicians were processing the area for any evidence to help them determine “what occurred here today,” Officer Doaa El-Ashkar, a police spokesperson, said in an email.

Police asked anyone with information to call the department’s homicide unit at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477
