Two injured, one arrested after shooting Tuesday in Independence

One person was shot and another person was injured in an incident Tuesday evening in Independence, police said.

The shooting was reported in the 9600 block of E. 25th Terrance, the Independence Police Department said in a Facebook post shortly after 6 p.m.

Two people were taken into custody immediately after the shooting, police said. One was later released.

The person who was shot may be a suspect in a crime related to the incident, said Officer Jodi Grooms of the Independence Police Department.

Police asked that members of the public avoid the area.

Police had previously said three people were injured but provided updated information as the investigation continued.
