Tactical officers arrest man after 3 1/2-hour standoff at Great Wolf Lodge hotel room

Tactical police officers took a man into custody after he allegedly barricaded himself inside a room at the Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City, Kansas, following an armed disturbance, Kansas City, Kansas, police said in a news release.

Police responded shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a disturbance involving a man who allegedly was refusing to leave the hotel and water park in the 10000 Block of Cabela Drive in Village West.

Arriving officers were told the man was possibly armed, Officer Jonathon Westbrook wrote.

Officers established a perimeter and a tactical unit was brought in to deescalate the situation, Westbrook said. Negotiators contacted the man, who refused to exit a room and a standoff ensued.

After about 3 1/2 hours, tactical officers entered the room and took the man into custody, Westbrook said.

Police continued to investigate the incident and asked anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
