KC police investigate shooting in Northland Thursday afternoon; 1 person injured

Kansas City police were investigating a shooting at a Northland home that left one person injured Thursday afternoon.

The call came in just before 4 p.m., police said.

According to Sgt. Jacob Becchina, a Kansas City police spokesman, the caller reported that two males came to his home in the 11800 block of North Campbell. The caller told police he believed the pair intended to rob him and he fired shots, striking one of the males.

The pair left in a vehicle. They were later contacted by police officers on U.S. 169 highway, Becchina said.

The person who was shot was taken to a hospital with injuries that were thought to be life-threatening.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting remained under investigation late Thursday afternoon, Becchina said. The homeowner was cooperating with detectives.
