Independence hospital says it treated 7 victims from Kansas City nightclub shooting
An Independence hospital says it treated seven victims from a shooting at a Kansas City nightclub Sunday night.
The seven were among 15 people reported injured in a shooting that left two dead, including the suspected shooter, about 11:30 p.m. Sunday outside 9ine Ultra Lounge bar in the 4800 block of Noland Road, according to the news release from Centerpoint Medical Center. The hospital is located about six miles east of the shooting scene.
The shooting occurred when a man started firing into a line of people waiting to get inside the club, according to the Kansas City Police Department.
The shooter was shot and killed by a security guard on the property, police said. A woman was found dead at the scene. Numerous injured people arrived at hospitals soon afterward, according to police.
Centerpoint Medical Center reported two patients were in critical condition as of 11 a.m. Monday. Two patients were in serious condition and two were in fair condition. Another patient was treated and released.
The hospital said two patients were discharged.
It’s not clear how many of the patients had gunshot wounds.
Kansas City Police Chief Rick Smith was scheduled to speak at a press conference Monday at 2 p.m. about the shooting.
