17-year-old girl injured in shooting at Overland Park apartment complex, police say

Overland Park police were investigating after a teenage girl was shot Friday night during a possible attempted robbery at an apartment complex.

Police responded to Meadowlark Hill Apartments in the 9100 block of Robinson Street after receiving a report of a shooting around 8:20 p.m., according to Officer John Lacy, an Overland Park police spokesman.

Arriving officers found a 17-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Lacy said. She was taken to a hospital and was said to be in stable condition. The teen’s injuries were not considered to be life-threatening, according to police.

No arrests have been announced. Police stated that a suspect was seen leaving the area in a black Nissan sedan after the shooting.

The incident remained under investigation late Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Overland Park Police Department at 913-895-6300.
