A Kansas City, Kan., man was sentenced Friday to life in prison for killing another man in 2013.
A Wyandotte County jury found 26-year-old Sherrick Sims guilty in April of premeditated first-degree murder in the June 2013 shooting death of Jose Alarcon-Quintana.
Alarcon-Quintana, 34, an immigrant from Guatemala living in Kansas City, Kan., was killed in the 1100 block of Tenny Avenue.
Under Kansas law, Sims will have to serve a minimum of 25 years before he is eligible for parole.
