1 shot while leaving bar at 18th and Vine, 1 in custody, KC police say

Kansas City police were investigating early Friday after a person was shot in the head as they were leaving a bar in the area of 18th and Vine.

According to a statement provided by police, officers responded to a gas station at about 12:35 a.m. in the 4300 block of The Paseo, where the victim was found in a vehicle.

The victim was taken to a hospital and was last reported to be in stable condition.

The driver of vehicle, who was not injured, told police she and another person were leaving a bar at 1827 Vine St. when someone started shooting at them. The witness said she started driving away and realized her passenger had been shot.

She drove a few miles to a Shell gas station on The Paseo and stopped for police. Police noted the vehicle had damage from gunfire.

Police said a person of interest has been identified and is in custody.
