1 injured after shooting in northwest KCK neighborhood, police say

A young man was injured in a shooting Thursday afternoon in Kansas City, Kansas, police said.

It happened around 4:15 p.m. in a northwest Kansas City, Kansas, neighborhood on Webster Avenue near North 34th Street.

Police at the scene said a male victim, believed to be in his 20s, had a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Later in a news release, police said it appeared the shooting stemmed from “a large disturbance involving multiple parties.” Several shell casings were located at the scene.

Police had no suspect information and were looking to speak with witnesses.

The investigation was ongoing.
