Online modeling ad leads to child porn conviction in Kansas City

A Kansas City man pleaded guilty Monday to taking pornographic pictures of a 15-year-old Prairie Village girl who answered his online ad seeking models.

Marcus S. Clarke, 43, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to producing child pornography and attempting to produce child pornography.

According to court documents, Prairie Village police were contacted last October by a woman who found text messages between the girl and someone discussing a modeling photo shoot.

When police spoke to the girl, she told them that she had exchanged texts with a man after seeing a Craigslist ad seeking models for a photo shoot.

She was picked up at a Prairie Village park and driven to an apartment in Kansas City, North, where the man took pictures and videos of her clothed and nude, according to the documents.

Afterward, he gave her $100 and drove her back to Prairie Village.

After police began investigating, more texts came from the man seeking another modeling session. Police arrested Clarke after he drove to the same park to pick up the girl.

Investigators found several sexually explicit videos of the Prairie Village girl at Clarke’s apartment. They also found a video of another minor taking a shower, according to the documents.

He faces up to 30 years in federal prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
