Overland Park man accused of hitting woman in face with kitten
Prosecutors accused an Overland Park man Thursday of hitting his girlfriend in the face with a pet kitten during a domestic disturbance.
Svetlozar Kovatchev, 40, was charged in Johnson County District Court with one count of domestic battery.
Police arrested him Wednesday after being called to an apartment in the 11900 block of Oakmont Street.
According to the allegations, Kovatchev picked up the black-and-white kitten and struck the woman in the face with it, causing a scratch. Police said the kitten was not injured.
Kovatchev pleaded not guilty during his first court appearance Thursday afternoon. He was ordered to have no contact with the woman as a condition of bond.
